About The Band

"I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for making my 40th birthday unforgettable. ... everyone thinks that Rutland Big Band were absolutely amazing [..] so... thank you thank you thank you."  Vicky, 2011

There's nothing quite like the sound of a live band to get your feet moving. The Rutland big band can liven up your party with the old swing favourites, jazz numbers, or some party music to bop around to. Here we are at Manton village hall in 2011 with a 40s number:

Our repertoire includes popular tunes from the 40s swing era such as "Moonlight Serenade" and "American Patrol" through "Rock Around The Clock" to things like "Copacabana", "Sir Duke" (that's a Stevie Wonder tune), and "Moondance" which are great for parties and weddings..

You can hear another, slightly older, recording of us on the 'listen to us' page.

We are a community band; we welcome new members to come and play with us.

The band started with just a handful of people in 2005 who wanted to play some tunes together. These days people have started asking us back to perform a second time. We have performed at the Uppingham Fringe arts festival, the Oakham Festival, weddings, & several 40s nights. So if you are looking for a wedding band or a party band, please get in touch, and give your guests a good dance. We'll happily travel around Leicestershire,  Stamford, Melton Mowbray, Corby and other places around Leicestershire and  the East Midlands.
